Stockholm to Arlanda, with time to spare.

The departure leg is the one that goes wrong, because nobody is tracking your flight for you and the trains stop running when you need them most. From 695 SEK per vehicle, priced by the kilometre and fixed before you book, collected from your door, with the check-in margin worked out before you book.

Quick answer

A private transfer from central Stockholm to Arlanda (ARN) starts from 695 SEK in an Economy sedan and from 895 SEK in a Standard Mercedes E-Class — exactly the same as the inbound leg. For a Schengen departure, be collected 2 hours 45 minutes before your flight; for intercontinental, 3 hours 45 minutes. That is the recommended check-in margin plus a 45-minute drive. Afternoon departures between 16:00 and 18:00 need an extra twenty minutes because rush hour runs out of the city. A 10:00 long-haul departure works out at roughly an 06:15 pickup.

Times are for pickup in central Stockholm. Add roughly 10 minutes from Södermalm, Nacka or Hammarby Sjöstad, and subtract about 10 minutes from Solna, Sundbyberg or Kista. In heavy snow we bring the pickup forward rather than driving faster. If you would rather leave earlier than the table says, tell us and we will — nobody has ever complained about reaching Arlanda with time in hand.

02 — Why departures go wrong

Nobody is tracking your flight for you.

Arriving, we watch the aircraft and adjust. Departing, the margin is decided before the day and there is no recovering it at 05:40.

The early morning gap

Trains do not run when you need them

Arlanda's busiest departure bank starts around 06:00, and public transport into it is thin. The Arlanda Express does not run continuously through the night and coach services reduce heavily in the small hours. For a 06:00 or 07:00 flight, a pre-booked car is not a luxury choice — it is frequently the only reliable one.

Rush hour reverses

The afternoon problem

Between 16:00 and 18:00 traffic runs out of the city, which is exactly the direction you are travelling. The drive stretches from 45 minutes toward 65. Arriving guests never notice this because their leg is the clear one; departing guests notice it acutely, so we build it in.

Security, not check-in

The queue that varies

Bag drop is usually quick. The variable is security between 05:00 and 08:00, when the domestic and European morning departures stack together. This is the single most common reason a comfortable margin turns into a run to the gate, and why we do not shave the early-morning pickups.

Worth saying plainly

For a mid-morning flight, travelling light, the train is fine

If your flight leaves at 11:00, you are one or two people with cabin bags, and you are staying near Stockholm Central, the Arlanda Express at 18 minutes is a perfectly good answer and cheaper than us. The departure leg is where we genuinely earn our place at the other end of the range: flights before 08:00, three or more travellers, checked luggage, children, an address away from Central, or a 16:00–18:00 departure where the traffic is against you and a missed flight costs more than the car.

03 — Price

Priced by distance, identical either way.

Per vehicle, not per person, and every figure is a starting-from price. The distance does not change with direction, so neither does the rate.

Starting-from prices in SEK, per vehicle, VAT included, along with tolls, the congestion charge, the Arlanda access charge, parking and luggage handling. They assume a standard central Stockholm address; an outlying one is priced on the same per-kilometre rate. A night surcharge may apply between 23:00 and 05:00 and is shown before you confirm — worth knowing, since a great many departure pickups fall inside that window. Child seats and pets in a carrier are paid add-ons.

How the final price is worked out

Every figure on this site is a starting-from price. The fare itself is built from a base fare plus a per-kilometre rate for the distance actually driven, with a minimum fare that applies to short runs. We calculate it and lock it before you book — there is no meter, no surge and nothing recalculated afterwards.

Vehicle Minimum fareruns under about 20 km / 12 mi Base fare Per kmper mile in brackets Stockholm ↔ Arlanda40 km / 25 miles

MinibusMercedes Sprinter1 29555536  (57.95)from1 995

All figures in SEK, per vehicle, VAT included. Worked example: an Economy sedan on this 40 km route is 255 SEK base + 11 SEK × 40 km = 695 SEK. Below roughly 20 km (12 miles) the minimum fare applies instead, which is what a short hop such as Arlanda to Knivsta or Sigtuna costs. Above that the rate simply continues, so a long run to Västerås or Enköping is priced by the same arithmetic rather than by negotiation.

1

Always a “from” price

Published prices are the starting point for a standard central address. Your own address, the vehicle class and any extra stops decide the final figure.

2

Distance, not the clock

The rate runs on kilometres driven door to door, not on minutes. Traffic, a delayed flight or a slow baggage belt cannot move the number.

3

A floor, not a surprise

Short journeys fall to the minimum fare for the class rather than dropping below what it costs to send a licensed car and driver.

4

Fixed before you book

You see the exact total, in writing, before you confirm. Tolls, the Arlanda access charge, parking, waiting time and luggage handling are already inside it.

Booking the return at the same time as your arrival gives you one reference and one invoice, and the departure car is held from the moment you book rather than arranged on the day you leave. See the inbound leg
04 — At the airport

Dropped at the right terminal.

Departures sit on a different level from arrivals, and Terminal 2 is a separate building. Tell us the airline and we will get the terminal right.

T5

Terminal 5

SAS, Star Alliance and most long-haul departures. The busiest terminal, and the one where an early-morning security queue is most likely.

T2

Terminal 2

oneworld, SkyTeam and several low-cost international carriers. A separate building south of the main complex, so being dropped at Terminal 5 by mistake costs you real time.

T4

Terminal 4

Domestic departures to Gothenburg, Malmö, Luleå and the regional network. Connected to Terminal 5 on foot through SkyCity in five to seven minutes.

What we do

Your driver takes you to the departures level of the correct terminal, unloads the luggage and points you at the right entrance. If your airline has moved terminal since booking, dispatch will have caught it.

06 — Departure questions

Stockholm to Arlanda, answered.

The inbound leg is covered on Arlanda to Stockholm. Airport practicalities are in the airport guide.

What time should I leave Stockholm for my flight?
Take your departure time and subtract 2 hours 45 minutes for a Schengen flight, or 3 hours 45 minutes for intercontinental. That is Arlanda's recommended check-in margin of two or three hours, plus a 45-minute drive. So an 08:00 Schengen departure is a 05:15 pickup, and a 10:00 long-haul is 06:15. Add roughly twenty minutes if the drive falls between 16:00 and 18:00, when traffic runs out of the city. We work this out with you at booking rather than leaving it as your problem.
Is it the same price as coming from the airport?
Yes, exactly. From 695 SEK in Economy and from 895 SEK in a Standard Mercedes, identical in both directions — the fare runs on a base fare plus a per-kilometre rate, and the distance does not change with direction, so neither does the number. Booking both legs when you first arrange your arrival gives you one reference and one invoice, and means the departure car is held from that moment rather than arranged on the morning you leave.
Can you collect at three or four in the morning?
Yes, every night of the year. This is one of the strongest reasons to pre-book the departure leg — the Arlanda Express does not run continuously overnight, coach services thin out badly, and finding a taxi in central Stockholm at 03:30 is not something to leave to chance with a flight to catch. A night surcharge may apply between 23:00 and 05:00 and is shown before you confirm. There is no surge pricing.
What if I want to leave earlier than you recommend?
Then we will collect you earlier, and we will not argue. Our table uses the recommended margins, but plenty of guests would rather have coffee airside than sit in the car worrying, and travelling with children or a connection to make is a perfectly good reason to add half an hour. Tell us the pickup time you want and that is the one we book. Nobody has ever complained about reaching Arlanda with time in hand.
Which terminal will you drop me at?
The one your airline departs from — Terminal 5 for SAS, Star Alliance and most long-haul, Terminal 2 for oneworld, SkyTeam and several low-cost carriers, Terminal 4 for domestic. Terminal 3 is closed. Tell us the airline at booking. Terminal 2 is a separate building south of the main complex, so being dropped at the wrong one costs you real time on a tight morning.
Will the driver help with my luggage?
Yes, at both ends and at no extra charge. Your driver loads at your door and unloads at the departures entrance of the correct terminal. If you are travelling with skis, golf clubs, an instrument case or a pushchair, these cost nothing extra but do change which vehicle we send — declare them at booking or book the van directly, because a sedan takes three large cases and no more.
What happens if my flight is delayed or cancelled after you collect me?
Once you are in the car the journey is what you have booked, and we cannot undo a cancellation. What we can do is take you back — call dispatch and we will arrange the return leg, usually with the same driver if they are still nearby. If you learn about the cancellation before pickup, message us as early as you can and we will cancel or move the booking; inside 24 hours we treat a cancelled flight very differently from a change of mind.
Can you collect several people from different addresses?
Yes. Multiple pickups across the city on the way to Arlanda are added for a small supplement quoted at booking, and are usually far cheaper than separate transfers. For a group arriving from three or more addresses, or where the timings are uncertain, hourly chauffeur hire often works out better and we will say so. Groups above six move to the van, and above fourteen we run a convoy.
Do I need to book in advance, or can I call on the day?
The evening before is the sensible habit for an early departure, and 24 hours guarantees the vehicle class you want. Same-day bookings are taken whenever a car is free — call dispatch rather than booking online if you are inside a few hours. What we would not recommend is planning to find something on the street at 04:00, which is the situation this page mostly exists to prevent.
