Arlanda to Stockholm, already priced when you land.

Forty kilometres south on the E4, between 35 and 65 minutes depending on the hour you arrive. We watch the aircraft rather than the timetable, so a delay moves the pickup and costs you nothing. The fare is 695 SEK for the car, not for each of you, with the congestion charge and the airport access charge already inside it.

The short answer

A private transfer from Stockholm Arlanda to central Stockholm covers 40 km in 35 to 65 minutes and costs from 695 SEK per vehicle — per car, not per head. A Mercedes E-Class is 895 SEK, a six-seat V-Class 1 295, an S-Class 1 795 and a fourteen-seat minibus 1 995, which at full occupancy is about 142 SEK a person.

The spread in that travel time is not vagueness, it is the hour you land. A midnight arrival runs the E4 in about 30 to 35 minutes. A weekday arrival at 16:30 can take 65, because the southbound carriageway backs up through Järva krog. We plan against the figure for your actual arrival rather than an average.

We track the aircraft from the flight number, so a delayed landing moves the pickup at no charge and needs no phone call from you. Free waiting then runs 60 minutes from touchdown on a Schengen arrival and 90 on an intercontinental one.

01 — The first hour

What happens between touchdown and the car door.

The part of an airport transfer that goes wrong is almost never the driving. It is the forty minutes before it, which is why the waiting window is the most important number on this page.

Touchdown

The clock starts here, not at your scheduled time

We follow the aircraft, so if you land ninety minutes late the pickup simply moves ninety minutes. There is nothing to tell us, nothing to rearrange and no charge for the delay. This is the single reason to give us a flight number rather than an arrival time.

+10 to +25 min

Passport control

Fast on a Schengen arrival, since there is no control at all. Slower on an intercontinental one, particularly when two wide-bodies land together into Terminal 5 in the morning bank. This is where the 90-minute window rather than the 60-minute one earns its existence.

+20 to +45 min

The baggage hall

The genuinely unpredictable part, and the reason we do not ask you to specify a pickup time. Hand luggage only and you may be out in twenty minutes. A full flight with checked bags can take forty-five, and we are waiting either way.

On arrival

Your driver, at a named point

Name, phone number and the exact meeting point sent before you land. Terminal 5 for SAS, Star Alliance and long-haul; Terminal 2, a separate building, for oneworld, SkyTeam and low-cost; Terminal 4 for domestic. Meet and greet inside the hall with a name board is a paid add-on rather than the standard arrangement.

Free waiting

60 minutes Schengen, 90 intercontinental

Measured from touchdown, not from when you were meant to land. Beyond it, waiting is charged — and we will call you before the clock starts rather than presenting it afterwards.

One practical note about Terminal 2. It is a separate building from Terminals 4 and 5, reached along the frontage, and it is the terminal most often missed by people looking for a car. If you are on Finnair, British Airways, KLM, Air France, Ryanair or Norwegian, that is probably you. Telling us the flight number rather than the terminal removes the guesswork entirely, because we can read the stand from the aircraft.

02 — The drive

Forty kilometres, and the clock depends on the hour.

Published travel times for this route are usually a single number. It is really a range of about thirty minutes, and knowing which end you are in is worth more than the average.

You land at Typical drive What is happening on the E4
05:00–07:0030–40 minClear southbound. The commuter flow is heading the other way, into the city later, so an early arrival is one of the fastest runs of the day
07:00–10:0040–50 minMorning traffic building towards the city. Not the worst of the day, but the last stretch into Norrmalm slows noticeably
10:00–15:0035–45 minThe easy middle of the day, and the window most cruise and leisure arrivals fall into. Close to the theoretical time
15:30–18:0050–65 minThe slow one. The E4 backs up through Järva krog and the whole run stretches by 15 to 20 minutes. If you have a fixed appointment, plan around this rather than hoping
18:00–23:0035–40 minClearing again. Evening long-haul arrivals into Terminal 5 generally get a good run into the city
23:00–05:0030–35 minThe fastest drive of the day, and the hour at which the rail alternatives thin out. A night surcharge applies and is shown before you confirm

Times are for central Stockholm in normal conditions. Snow and ice stretch every row, and our response is to bring the pickup forward rather than to drive faster. The route crosses into the Stockholm congestion charging zone, and that charge is already inside your fare rather than added at the end — unlike the northbound run to Uppsala, which is the same 40 km and the same 695 SEK but never enters the zone at all. One rate card, two quite different drives.

Fixed prices in SEK, per vehicle, VAT included, along with tolls, the Stockholm congestion charge, the Arlanda access charge, parking, the free waiting window and luggage handling. Fares are rounded up to the nearest 5 SEK, and a minimum fare sits under each class for shorter runs — it does not bite at 40 km, but it is why Sigtuna at 15 km is 445 rather than 420. A night surcharge applies between 23:00 and 05:00 and is shown before you confirm. Above fourteen passengers we run matched vehicles as a convoy under one booking.

04 — The alternatives

You do not have to book anything at all.

Arlanda is unusually well served, and the rank is thirty metres from the arrivals door. A page that did not say so would not deserve to be believed about the rest.

Worth saying plainly

On a daytime arrival with one bag, walk out and take the train or the rank

If you land in the middle of the day, travel light and are staying near Stockholm Central, the Arlanda Express at 18 minutes and about 340 SEK a head will get you there faster than we can, and the SL bus from the terminals at 43 SEK is the cheapest route into the city by a wide margin — the Arlanda passage fee is charged at the station barriers, and a bus never passes them. Even the taxi rank is a reasonable option and needs no forward planning: the airport caps a contracted taxi at 825 SEK to an address inside its marked zone, which is not far above our 695. So book us when the arithmetic or the circumstances actually favour it: three or four passengers, where 695 split four ways is about 174 SEK each and beats every per-head fare on the route; seven to fourteen, where a minibus at 142 a head undercuts everything; checked luggage, ski bags or a pushchair; children needing seats; an address away from Central or outside the taxi zone, where no ceiling applies to anyone; an arrival after midnight, when the trains thin and the rank can be long; and any arrival where knowing the number and the name of your driver in advance is worth more to you than the difference.

05 — Included and extra

Everything except the three things we name.

The quickest way to judge an airport transfer company is to ask what is not in the price. Here is the whole list, before you book.

In the price you are quoted

  • ✓The Stockholm congestion charge, which this route genuinely incurs, and tolls.
  • ✓The Arlanda access charge, included rather than added at the end.
  • ✓Parking and terminal access while the driver waits for you.
  • ✓Flight tracking and delay absorption, with the pickup moved to the actual landing time.
  • ✓Free waiting, 60 minutes from touchdown on a Schengen arrival and 90 on an intercontinental one.
  • ✓Luggage handling, and skis, golf clubs and oversized bags at no charge provided they are declared.
  • ✓Assistance dogs, free and without a carrier.

Added only if you ask, or say so up front

  • 1Meet and greet. A driver inside the arrivals hall with a name board. A paid add-on, not a standard inclusion — the standard arrangement is a named meeting point.
  • 2Child seats. Infant, toddler and booster, fitted before you land. Paid, per seat.
  • 3Pets in a carrier. Paid, and the carrier is required.
  • ·Night surcharge, 23:00 to 05:00. A stated extra shown before you confirm.
  • ·Waiting beyond the free window, charged, and we call before the clock starts.
  • ·Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are not in our fleet. The taxi rank officer at the terminal can arrange one, as can Färdtjänst for cardholders.
06 — Questions

What people ask about this route.

If your question is not here, message us on WhatsApp. A person answers, and usually within a few minutes.

How much is a transfer from Arlanda to Stockholm?
From 695 SEK per vehicle in an Economy car, not per person. The route is 40 km and the fare is a 255 SEK base fare plus 11 SEK per kilometre, rounded up to the nearest 5 SEK. A Mercedes E-Class is 895 SEK, a six-seat V-Class 1 295 SEK, an S-Class 1 795 SEK and a fourteen-seat minibus 1 995 SEK. Tolls, the Stockholm congestion charge, the Arlanda access charge, parking, waiting time and luggage handling are all included. A night surcharge applies between 23:00 and 05:00 and is shown before you confirm.
How long does it take to get from Arlanda to Stockholm by car?
Between 35 and 65 minutes for the 40 km south on the E4, and the hour you land decides which end of that range you get. A late evening or early morning arrival runs at 30 to 40 minutes. A weekday afternoon arrival between roughly 15:30 and 18:00 runs at 50 to 65, because the E4 southbound backs up through Järva krog. We build the drive against the slow figure for your arrival time rather than the average.
How long will the driver wait if my flight is delayed?
We track the aircraft from the flight number and move the pickup to the actual landing time at no charge, so a delay costs you nothing and needs no phone call. Free waiting then runs for 60 minutes from touchdown on a Schengen arrival and 90 minutes on an intercontinental one, which covers passport control and the baggage hall on a normal day. Waiting beyond that is charged, and we will always call you before the clock starts.
Where does the driver meet me at Arlanda?
At an agreed point in the arrivals hall of your terminal, with the driver's name, phone number and the exact meeting point sent to you before you land. Terminal 5 handles SAS, Star Alliance and long-haul arrivals, Terminal 2 is a separate building for oneworld, SkyTeam and low-cost carriers, and Terminal 4 handles domestic flights. Meet and greet inside the terminal with a name board is available as a paid add-on rather than a standard inclusion.
Is the price per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle. Four people in an Economy car pay 695 SEK between them, about 174 SEK each, and a full fourteen-seat minibus at 1 995 SEK works out around 142 SEK a head. Adding a passenger costs nothing until you need a larger vehicle. That is the point at which a private car beats the rail options, since the commuter train from Arlanda costs roughly 190 SEK per adult once the passage fee is added and the Arlanda Express about 340.
Which vehicle do I need for my luggage?
Count the cases rather than the people. An Economy car or E-Class takes three passengers and three large cases, a V-Class six and six, and a Sprinter fourteen and fourteen. Two people with four large cases need the V-Class rather than a saloon, which is the commonest sizing mistake on this route. Skis, golf clubs and oversized bags carry no charge but must be declared at booking so the right vehicle is sent.
Is it cheaper to take the Arlanda Express or a taxi?
For one or two people travelling light to a central hotel, the Arlanda Express at about 340 SEK per adult and 18 minutes is hard to beat, and the SL bus from the terminals at 43 SEK is cheaper still, because the Arlanda passage fee is charged at the station barriers and a bus never passes them. Against a rank taxi the comparison is closer: the airport caps a contracted taxi at 825 SEK into the marked zone, and our Economy car is a fixed 695 SEK with the access charge already inside it.
Do you go to addresses outside the city centre?
Yes, and the price simply follows the kilometres. Kista is 30 km at 585 SEK, Solna 33 km at 620 SEK, central Stockholm 40 km at 695 SEK, Södermalm 43 km at 730 SEK, the cruise terminals 45 km at 750 SEK and Nacka 48 km at 785 SEK. There is no zone map and no service boundary, because a boundary is a business decision while distance is a fact.
Is the congestion charge included?
Yes. The Stockholm congestion charge applies on this route because the drive crosses into the charging zone, and it is inside the figure you are quoted along with tolls, the Arlanda access charge and parking. Nothing on this route is added at the end. The only two things that can be added at all are the 23:00 to 05:00 night surcharge and any add-on you chose, and both are shown before you confirm.
Can you collect a group arriving on different flights?
Yes. We track each flight separately and can either hold one vehicle until the whole party is assembled or run in waves as people land, whichever suits the day better. Above fourteen passengers we send matched vehicles as a convoy under one booking and one coordinator, so the group arrives together rather than trickling into the hotel over half an hour.
What happens if I land in the middle of the night?
We operate around the clock, and this is one of the cases where pre-booking earns its money most clearly, because rail options thin out and the taxi rank can be long after a bank of delayed arrivals. A night surcharge applies between 23:00 and 05:00 and is stated before you confirm rather than discovered on arrival. The drive itself is at its fastest at that hour, usually 30 to 35 minutes.
How far in advance should I book?
Twenty-four hours guarantees the vehicle class you want. Shorter notice is usually fine for an Economy or E-Class car and we take same-day bookings when a vehicle is free, but a six-seat V-Class, a minibus or several child seats are worth arranging earlier. Peak weeks in summer, over midsummer and when several cruise ships turn around on the same morning are the times to book well ahead.

Send the flight number. That is the whole booking.
